DALLAS (SMU) - SMU football has added a pair of transfers, both of whom should be eligible for the 2014 season. Quarterback Matt Davis arrives from Tyler Junior College as a sophomore, while linebacker Cameron Nwosu comes from Rice and will be a senior.

Davis, who initially enrolled at Texas A&M in 2012 as a 4-star recruit, transferred to Tyler JC after Johnny Manziel was named the Aggies' starter. Davis appeared in seven games for Tyler in 2013, earning Southwest Junior College Football Conference and National Junior College Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading TJC to a come-from-behind win over Blinn.  After going down 28-24 with 1:25 remaining, Davis led the Apaches on a six-play drive and rushed for a TD with 19 seconds left on the clock, giving TJC a 31-28 win. As a prep, Davis was one of the top prospects in Texas, and held offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama, LSU, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State among others.

Nwosu comes to SMU from Rice, where he completed his undergraduate degree, making him eligible for 2014. Nwosu sat out the 2013 season while rehabbing a knee injury. Nwosu finished his Rice career with 25 consecutive starts and 210 tackles. As a junior in 2012, Nwosu opened the year in record-breaking fashion, setting an NCAA record by blocking three PATs in the first half versus UCLA. He also intercepted a Bruins' pass.

SMU's 2014 home schedule includes games against Texas A&M, TCU and AAC rivals Cincinnati and Houston among others. Full season tickets are available here or by calling the SMU Ticket Office at 214-768-4263 for tickets.
