DALLAS (SMU) - Players from the SMU Football team spent a couple hours in Plano on Sat., Feb. 9, reading to children at Central Market's Storytime Saturdays.
"We always enjoy getting out in the community, especially when we get to make an impact on kids' lives," said freshman Nick Reed. "This is my second time this year reading to children and it's so much fun to see them enjoy books I loved as a kid."
Christian Holloway, Prescott Line, Ajee Montes, Elie Nabushosi, Jarvis Pruitt, Nick Reed and Daijuan Stewart teamed up for the February Literacy Month event and each picked a story to read to the kids.
"Ajee won the award for best storyteller of the day," stated Holloway. "Ajee picked Monsters, Inc. and he incorporated the different voices into his story telling. The kids loved it."
Members of the football team will make another appearance at Storytime Saturday at Central Market in Plano (320 Coit Rd., Plano, TX 75075) from 2-4 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 23. For more information about the community event please contact Allison Singleton, Director of Life Skills at 214-768-4622.
