Coaching Experience: In his sixth season as SMU's Head Strength & Conditioning Coach... Arrived at SMU after serving as an assistant strength & conditioning coach at Texas since 1999... Served as the boys' athletic director and head football coach at St. Pius X High School in Houston from 1996-99... Led his team to a 10-3 record and a state runner-up finish in 1998... Coached linebackers and was the head strength coach for the Hamilton TigerCats of the Canadian Football League from 1990-92... Started his coaching career as the head coach at Crawford High School in San Diego in 1990; Playing Experience: Four-year starter at linebacker for Maryland from 1983-86... Helped the Terrapins to three-straight Atlantic Coast Conference championships (1983-85)... Team captain as a senior... Two-time All-ACC selection and a three-time honorable mention All-American... Drafted by the New York Giants in 1987 and played for the San Diego Chargers from 1987-89... Spent two years in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system after being drafted by the organization his senior year in high school; Education: Earned a bachelor's degree from Maryland in general studies; Personal: He and wife Peggy Ann have four daughters - Jenna, Juliann, Javoni and Jade... Collects and restores cars... Also enjoys boating.
