DALLAS (AP) -- Michael Harris scored 23 points and Jason McKrieth had 22 to lead Rice over SMU 80-75 in double overtime on Saturday night.
Harris made the tying layup with 26 seconds left in regulation, then scored seven points in the second overtime to help Rice (18-10, 12-6 Western Athletic Conference) end the regular season on a five-game winning streak.
Harris, who was 8-of-13 from the floor, also had 10 rebounds.
Eric Castro, who played all but one minute, led SMU (14-13, 9-9) with 18 points. Patrick Simpson added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
SMU trailed by six with under a minute left in the first overtime, but two baskets by Jon Killen and a third by Derrick Roberts with 10 second left forced the second overtime.
The team's will square off again on Thurs. March 10, at 4:30 pm.m in the quaterfinal round of the WAC Tournament. Rice will play as the third seed and SMU has the sixth seed.
