Ben Moore Earns Second American Athletic Conference Rookie Of The Week Honor

DALLAS (SMU/American Athletic Conference) - SMU men's basketball freshman Ben Moore has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time, while sophomore Markus Kennedy was placed on the honor roll for the third time this season.
Moore helped SMU to a pair of American Athletic Conference wins as the Mustangs extended their winning streak to five games with victories against Rutgers and Houston. Moore scored 12 points with five rebounds and two assists, going 4-of-5 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line in a 70-56 win against the Scarlet Knights. He added five points and two rebounds in a 75-68 win at Houston.
Kennedy averaged 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with 3.0 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in the Mustangs' 2-0 week. In conference play, Kennedy is averaging 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds. The Mustang sophomore has four double-doubles in the last five games.
The awards are Moore's second rookie honor of the season, and Kennedy's third appearance on the conference's honor roll.
SMU received votes in both of the national polls on Monday, earning three votes in the AP Poll and one vote in the USA Today Coaches' Poll.
The Mustangs (16-4, 5-2 American) will travel to USF (10-10, 1-6) Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT on ESPNews.
