RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Corey Dean hit the winning basket with 1.8 seconds left to lift Louisiana Tech to a 58-57 win over SMU on Saturday.
Paul Millsap led Louisiana Tech (8-8, 3-4 Western Athletic Conference) in scoring with 25 points, hitting 10-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from the line. Dean added 14 points, hitting 6-of-18 shots from the floor. Millsap also pulled in 11 rebounds.
Derrick Roberts and Eric Castro each had 19 points for SMU (8-7, 3-4). Roberts was 7-of-15 from the field and Castro was 9-of-12 in shooting.
SMU led 33-27 at the halftime on 60 percent shooting, but dropped to 29 percent shooting in the second half. The Techsters outrebounded the Mustangs 38-33 and led in assists, 14-8, with Daevon Haskins making eight assists.
The Mustangs return to action Thursday, Jan. 27 when they host 2004 NCAA Tournament team UTEP at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at smumustangs.com.
