Courtney Ray is in his fifth year on the Hilltop and his first as the speed and strength coach for the SMU men's basketball team. In addition to his work with the hoops team, Ray also works with SMU's volleyball program.

Ray was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and raised in Arlington, Texas. Before coming to SMU, he served as graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at UTEP, where he received his bachelor's degree with a double major in criminal justice and exercise and sports studies.

Following his senior year in college, Ray achieved a world ranking in the bench press. He now resides in Dallas and is engaged to be married.
