Niko Blankenship is in his first season at SMU. Blankenship assists in managing media relations for the football and men's basketball teams, and is the primary contact for the Mustangs' equestrian and women's golf programs.
Prior to joining the SMU staff, Blankenship served two seasons as a media relations assistant at the University of Denver. During his time at Denver, Blankenship was the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, gymnastics and women's golf, and assisted with the men's and women's basketball, hockey and men's lacrosse programs.
Blankenship did his undergrad work at Ashland University (Ashland, Ohio), completing degrees in sports communications and mathematics in 2011. As a four-year employee with the sports information staff at Ashland, Blankenship worked game day operations for the University's football, soccer, basketball and softball programs.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Blankenship is the son of John and Pat Blankenship.
