LICENSING
A trademark licensing program gives the University control over its logos and marks, thus, ensuring the quality and consistency of all of the University's merchandise. It also enables the University to generate revenue from the sale of merchandise bearing its logos and marks.
The revenue is used to support and enhance many programs campus wide. Outside of the University, the trademark licensing program creates a cooperative and positive working relationship with the manufacturers and retailers who work with the University.
Official SMU Athletic Logos
Visual identity plays an important role in shaping the image of the SMU Athletics Department. The logos and word marks should never be altered or animated. The SMU can be used in blue, red or white. The pony should always be in blue, except for one color situations, where white is acceptable. The pony should always be facing to the right.

Logos for Licensed Products
The SMU Athletics Department utilizes the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to administer its licensing program. CLC provides logos to qualified parties through its Logos on Demand website.

Official Colors
The official colors for SMU are red and blue. In print materials, the official blue is PMS 286 and the official red is PMS 186. For websites, the official hexadecimal designation for SMU blue is 0038A8 and for SMU red it is CE1126.

Official University Name
The name of the institution is Southern Methodist University. When referencing the athletic department, please always use SMU (e.g. SMU Athletic Department) instead of Southern Methodist.
Official Nickname
The official nickname of the SMU athletics teams is the Mustangs.

The official website of the University of the SMU Athletics Department is SMUMustangs.com. The website can be typed either of the following ways: SMUMustangs.com or smumustangs.com, when marketing the website.
