State Farm DFW Duel

In August of 2007, State Farm signed on as the presenting partner of the DFW Duel - the Battle for the Iron Skillet. This rivarly series, featuring the TCU Horned Frogs and SMU Mustangs, is among the most storied in college sports. Located just 45 minutes from one another, the two schools play for bragging rights and to defend the honor of their fine cities.

FOOTBALL
During the post-World War II college football boom, the TCU and SMU student body created a traveling trophy called the Iron Skillet that was presented to the winner of the annual football game between the rivals.

The tradition eventually died, and the skillet was lost. In 1993, the tradition was revived as SMU defeated TCU, 21-15. The skillet is presented to the winning team after each game.

With a 21-7 Homecoming victory over SMU on Sept. 22, 2007, TCU returned the Iron Skillet to campus. SMU had held the Iron Skillet since 2005 after defeating TCU at Ford Stadium in Dallas, 21-10. TCU holds a slim 41-39-7 lead over SMU in the series.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
For almost nine decades, the competition between the SMU men's basketball program and TCU has been filled with a long list of memorable moments that has helped fuel this rivalry into one of the most heated and highly-competitive games of the season.

Meeting once, twice, three times and even four times during a single season, the Mustangs and the Horned Frogs have created a heated tradition fueled over time. Beginning in the 1919 season, the rivalry has seen 183 games. The Mustangs have recorded a 101-82 advantage over the Horned Frogs. SMU won the last meeting in 2007, defeating TCU 71-65 at Moody Coliseum.

While the rivalry has always been a heated one between SMU and TCU, the personalities of their respective head coaches has helped built their feud into what it has become today. From the legendary games of Jim Killingsworth versus Dave Bliss to the rivalry of Billy Tubbs against Mike Dement to the "Door Wars" of Neil Dougherty and Matt Doherty, ever game has been highly-contested and the excitement has always come right down to the very end.
