After watching the tape and studying the outcome of our loss to the Miners, we were disappointed with some of the mental breakdowns that cost us. In our team meeting our players and coaches watched some clips of our game. Where do we need to improve?
1. Communication - as simple as that sounds we need to do a better job of communicating verbally and non-verbally, especially on defense.
2. Transition Defense - sprinting back on defense while communicating with your teammates...sounds easy, but is not that simple. Anticipation, hustle and talking are critical. The guards need to start rotating back to defense when a shot is taken.
3. Moving without the ball - players aren't drilled this at young ages as most of these young men had the ball in their hands most of the time during their high school days. At this level, players need to move and screen to help their teammates get quality shots.
We travel to Houston tomorrow for our Rice game on Wednesday.
