"Wednesday"
Here is a sampling of the schedule of a Division I basketball coach:
7:30am - Carpooled my son Tucker and two other 5th graders to school. Talked politics on the ride! Seriously!
8am - Lifted weights with former player John Briggs. He and I have been trying to workout 3x/week at the Crum Center. I am getting huge!!
9:45am - Staff Meeting. We meet daily to discuss our player's academics, recruiting and to prepare for practice. Our meetings usually last about 2 1/2 hours, with 2 hours of that focused on planning for practice!
11:30 - SMU Athletic Forum Luncheon at Hilton Anatole. Major League Baseball great Frank Robinson was the featured speaker. I was given the opportunity to sit at the head table and to speak to the audience for a few minutes about SMU and our basketball program.
2pm - Respond to some emails, look over our practice plan, review the scouting report for our scrimmage tomorrow with Texas Tech, sent out some hand written notes.
3:15pm - practice.
5:45pm - drove to Plano West HS to speak at their tip-off dinner. Called my family to say hello. Good day for the family. Also, called my mom on the way. She sounded great and it was fun to talk with her.
6:30pm - Plano West Tip-Off Dinner
9:30pm - arrived home, changed clothes and turned on ESPN as the family is asleep.
Good night!
