"King James holds court at Crum"
On Sunday the Cleveland Cavaliers practiced in the Crum Center. It was a pleasure to witness one of the world's premier athletes perform in person! I had the pleasure of recruiting Lebron James to UNC when he was a sophomore in high school. I remember seeing him in the state playoffs at Ohio State University. The next summer he "blew up" at a basketball camp. He reminded me of an athletic Magic Johnson….so I stopped recruiting him!

That's right! I knew he was too good and that he would head directly to the NBA!
Boy, was I right on that one!
On Sunday I got to visit with Lebron (see the picture with Lebron and my son, Tucker), but more importantly I got to visit with old friends John Kuester and Jawad Williams (see picture). John is an assistant with the Cavs. He is a former UNC player that really helped me develop as a college player. I would work with John in the summers in Chapel Hill while he was playing in the NBA. He is on of the best shooters I ever worked with and he is very dedicated! No surprise that he is a great coach!

Basketball is about relationships and it was great to be reacquainted with two old Tar Heels….and one King!
Interesting side note: I was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1984!
Pony Up!
