"Miracle Mets"
"Miracle Mets"
Today, I took my kids to see the Mets play at Shea Stadium. NY Met David Wright had a walk-off homer to win it! My son is now a Mets fan! We had seats four rows behind home plate!! What a day!
Today brought back a lot of memories:
- my dad took me to Shea for my first MLB game! I showed Tucker where we sat!
- we had "Banner Day" at Shea when I was at St. Raphael's grammar school. My banner read "What's a Rose without a Bud". That was in reference to the Reds' Pete Rose taking out the Mets' Bud Harrelson at second base in a previous series.
- the NY fans yelling "blue" to the umpire, "you're a stiff" to the manager. A disgruntled fan next to me left the game frustrated just before Wright hit the walk-off homer! I laughed as I was wondering what was going through his mind in the parking lot as he heard the crowd going nuts!
We came back from the game and took the kids to see my mother in the hospital. She is hanging in there.
Dinner at my sister's house...Nan makes great chicken quesadillas. All three of my sisters were there. It was a nice time to relax with them. Then I sat out back and called recruits!
