As I travel around the country recruiting (see yesterday's blog) I thought I would give you a little update on our prospects.

Our primary concern of late has been to bolster the guard spot. With the departure of Derrick Roberts and Jon Killen we feel we need to attract tough guards that can lead, defend, handle the ball and run a team. Current Freshman Mike Walker will have the opportunity to help fill that void along with the addition of JD DuBois and Derrick Williams. They have the qualities we are looking for in the backcourt. JD is a tough defender that can shoot. His leadership skills are terrific! I see JD playing some 2G and some as the primary ball handler. Junior College PG Derek Williams will add quickness, toughness and experience. We needed to balance out our roster as best as we could by adding a junior college player.

I still want to add a high school PG because we need another true PG on our roster. I like playing two ball-handling guards on the floor at the same time as it puts a lot of pressure on the defense while helping us push the tempo!
