"Malcolm Farmer"
This week, Malcolm Farmer officially moves from an administration position on my staff into a coaching position. Assistant coach Lance Irvin is departing for the #1 assistant position at Southern Illinois University where he and his wife will be closer to their hometown of Chicago. Lance did a fabulous job during his tenure at SMU. I will be forever grateful! He has become a good friend and is a fine coach.
Malcolm has served as a manager for me at Notre Dame and he has been my "GM" at FAU and here at SMU. At Notre Dame, I realized he was a special person as Malcolm is extremely bright, a hard worker, a good person and very dedicated! Malcolm has the ability to do many things, but he chooses to coach because, "I like to help young people."
I am excited about what Malcolm will bring to this role as I know he will be a smart and relentless recruiter and a terrific floor coach. Malcolm will continue to have his hand in the day-to-day operations until he trains his replacement. I will look to be filling the vacated administrative role over the coming weeks.
Pony Up!
