"Super Bowl"
Let's go Giants!
My son and I will have our own Super Bowl party Sunday as we prepare to help Eli and the boys upset the mighty Patriots! Pizza, Twizzlers, Chocolate Chip Cookies and soda are on the menu for our family's party.
Having grown up going to Giant games with my dad at Yankee Stadium, The Yale Bowl and The Meadowlands, I want to pass that tradition on to my son! My dad was a season ticket holder for many years; however that trek to NJ from Long Island became difficult to deal with. Plus, unforgotten events lead to the giving up of the precious duckets.
Just before my dad passed away last year I would visit him and ask off the wall questions that were curious to me. It was great conversation between father and son. One day I asked him why he gave up his Giant season tickets. Straight faced and without hesitation he said, "Because my son almost got us killed in the parking lot after a game!"
I laughed out loud as I recalled the incident that occurred about 35 years ago! We were leaving the Giant game early as we tried to beat the crowd at the Meadowlands. As we got to our car there were some drunken men standing around. They were trying to leave early, too, but "Big Walt" had created a parking spot (typical dad move!) when we arrived blocking this van from leaving early. So here is dad with me at about 10 years old and these drunks are giving him "the business". So we get in the car as fast as possible, lock the doors and wiggle our way out of the packed lot. Just when I thought we were clear I gave the drunks "the bird".

Kids those days! Catholic education gone bad!
There was one problem! We weren't clear! We were blocked in! I think I wet myself! The drunken men ran up to the car and started banging on the windows wanting to fight my Dad! "Big Walt" put the car in "scat" and we were "adios".
The silence was deafening on the Jersey Turnpike.
"So Dad....what did you think of the game?", I asked.
Silence....
Little did I know that would be my last Giant game with Dad!!
Memories!
Back to the present.....
Go G-men! Tucker and I will be pulling for the boys in blue along with "Big Walt" from his Lazy Boy in the sky! The Giants make us proud and they bring us together as a family!
Sports are good!
Oh.....by the way Dad, "My bad!"
