"No Off Days"
UNC coach Roy Williams used to say, "Recruiting is like shaving. If you take a day off people will notice!"
I am currently several thousand feet above Texas heading West to see a high school game this afternoon. Then I head back to the Midwest tomorrow to see another prospect play. I love to see kids play and figure out how they would fit into our program! Evaluating during the season is better in my opinion as you see better games than in the summer, plus I am more aware of the qualities I want in a player since I am working with my team every day. Fundamental things like talking on defense, seeing man and ball, and running the floor are some key components of a good Mustang prospect.
The difficult thing about evaluating during the season is the time away from home. It is tough to tell my kids that I won't be home until Sunday when I was just out of town for two nights in El Paso. They are great kids that I love being around! (I miss you, too, Kelly!!) Fortunately, my wife is super supportive of my career and that is huge for me and the kids!
Big game Sunday as the Giants invade Big D! Scary game for Dallas as the G-men are good and have nothing to lose!
Pony Up!
