DALLAS (SMU) - SMU is offering a new fan service at SMU football games.

"GuestAssist" is a communications service which enables one-to-one text messaging between Gerald J. Ford Stadium guests and stadium operations personnel. "GuestAssist" enables fans to ask questions about game-day information and/or report concerns regarding behavior through the convenience of their cell phones. Stadium operations personnel will monitor and respond to guests' game-day inquiries on a real-time basis and if needed, dispatch support, security, etc. to the guests' location.

Fans wishing to utilize the service should text questions or concerns to 214-516-7010 (Standard text message rates apply). The iPhone app can be downloaded here.

"GuestAssist" is not intended for emergency use. In the event of an emergency, guests should contact the nearest stadium event staff and/or dial 911.

"'GuestAssist' simplifies guest communication," said Tom Buning, SMU's Sr. Assoc. A.D. for Facilities & Operations. "Through texting and the convenience of the new `GuestAssist' smartphone app, fans can start a conversation at the touch of a button. We think this will add a new layer to both security and the overall fan experience."

GuestAssist is a service of Houston-based Qtags, Inc.
